Globfield International is seeking a Health & Nutrition Specialist (National Position) to support the implementation of a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) McGovern-Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program. This role will focus on strengthening nutrition interventions, school health programs, and local capacity to improve dietary practices among school-aged children over a 60-month project duration with an anticipated budget of $25 million.
The McGovern-Dole program’s core objectives include:
· Improved literacy of school-aged children through enhanced educational materials, teacher training, and improved attendance.
· Increased use of health, nutrition, and dietary practices by strengthening school feeding programs, food preparation safety, and nutrition education.
· Strengthened local capacity through engagement with governments, community organizations, and public-private partnerships to ensure sustainability.
This position is critical in ensuring the financial and operational success of the program while maintaining donor compliance and promoting long-term sustainability.
Key responsibilities:
· Lead the development and implementation of health and nutrition interventions, ensuring alignment with USDA/FAS objectives.
· Provide technical guidance on school feeding programs, ensuring balanced and nutritious meals for beneficiaries.
· Oversee micronutrient fortification, deworming campaigns, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) initiatives.
· Collaborate with government health agencies and school administrators to promote sustainable nutrition education.
· Conduct health and nutrition assessments to monitor program impact and guide improvements.
· Support capacity building for school staff and community organizations in nutrition-sensitive program activities.
· Ensure compliance with health, food safety, and dietary regulations in line with USDA/FAS policies.
· Develop materials for nutrition awareness campaigns targeting students, teachers, and parents.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor\\\\\\\'s degree in public health, nutrition, food science, or a related field.
· Minimum of 7 years of experience in health and nutrition programming within donor-funded projects.
· Expertise in school feeding initiatives, dietary diversity, and food safety protocols.
· Proven experience working with government health agencies and education stakeholders.
· Strong skills in program monitoring, impact evaluation, and health policy implementation.
· Fluency in French and the local language is required; proficiency in English is a plus.
