Chief of Party (COP)- Ethiopia

Job Description

The Chief of Party (COP) is the senior leader responsible for the overall management, implementation, and strategic direction of USDA Food for Progress initiatives in Ethiopia. The COP will ensure the program achieves its objectives, adheres to USDA regulations, and delivers impactful results. This role demands exceptional leadership, expertise in agricultural development, and the ability to foster relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, private sector partners, and rural communities.

Requirements

• Education: Master’s degree or higher in Agriculture, International Development, Economics, or a related field.

• Experience: Minimum 10–15 years of experience managing large-scale agricultural development or food security projects, preferably within USDA-funded programs.

Proven track record of leadership in multi-stakeholder initiatives across government, private sector, and donor organizations.

Expertise in policy advocacy, agricultural trade, rural development, and capacity building.

Strong knowledge of USDA regulations, including food safety standards, monetization guidelines, and program management requirements.

• Skills: Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making abilities.

Advanced proficiency in program management tools, including budgeting, financial oversight, and reporting systems.

Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Languages: Proficiency in English; knowledge of local languages is strongly preferred.
